19:23 cold very cold

I’ve never been so happy in my life, after steadily climbing down the stairwells for 8 flights, stepping lightly around the decaying masses of humans who perished in the initial wave, always looking for IED’s and the tale-tale markings of the jihad when they try to cover them up,, they’re so weak at that, there sitting at the bottom of the last flight, huddled under the stairs, Bravo just about shit himself wagging his tail so hard, I was smothered in dog slobber for about an hour. He did make it, he didn’t get eaten, although he’s a little thin and he’s a bit beat up, he’s no worse for the wear, and I’m thankful to God for keeping him safe, apparently he’s been protecting my life saver, a small man who may or may not be the enemy, he’s unconscious  bleeding and pretty beat up.. but alive… Bravo must have followed him down the stairwell after he left me to fend for myself.. it’s the only answer I can come up with at the moment…. I smell burnt flesh, so my guess is that an IED exploded and took somebody out and knocked them under the stairs… I am not as certain on what is going on in my head, I hear voices, can’t find them, but they are close.. not American, no language I understand.. weapons are ready, I haven’t much time must get this guy and bravo out of the building and down towards the river, I’m done fighting here for now, these bastards will have to do better than that to take us out.., have rations for a day, but my dog is alive and for now that’s all that matters …aircraft? helicopter…. low and slow around the building… old blackhawk,, red sickle and star on the tail, how is that possible…. taking cover.. bravo with a nervous growl… i’m nervous too my friend
